Jen Luton and Ryan Burnard have been the proud owners of Alaska Rug Company since July 2023. Based in Sterling, Alaska, on the picturesque Kenai Peninsula, they are dedicated to creating eco-friendly, handcrafted home decor items that reflect the rugged beauty of their surroundings. Jen and Ryan transform discarded fishing rope and materials into unique, durable pieces, including rugs, baskets, trivets, and custom signs. Their commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship ensures that each item carries a piece of Alaskan history and the spirit of the sea. Alaska Rug Company was originally opened by Anita and Robert Shane on Kodiak Island. Though the ownership has changed, the commitment to quality has not. We were lucky enough to visit Port Baily, the home of AK Rug Co and learn weaving and other rope techniques in the ownership transition.
